- "He who did it is a donkey, he didn't know how to do it!"" ―Hassan Jammal
Hassan Jammal (Arabic: حسن جمّال), a Hezbollah operative from Lebanon, has served twice on the Board of Trustees of Shia Association of Bay Area (Saba Islamic Center), the extremist Judeophobic pro-Hezbollah Khomeinist organization based in San Jose, California. Jammal was very highly active at SABA until his deportation from the United States in December 2006. He has given numerous talks there as well as at Azakhana-e-Zehra of Milpitas, CA.
Hassan Jammal resides along with his Chilean wife and children in Toronto, Canada.
The ancestral hometown of Hassan Jammal is Jwaya, which is located in southern Lebanon. Jwaya, major town in Jabal Amel, is noted for its very large expatriate community in West Africa.
The town was also home to a historic Hawza (Shia religious seminary).

Hassan Jammal and Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi)
Upon his arrival to the San Francisco Bay Area in February 2002, Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi) quickly drew organizational restructuring plans for SABA. At the time when Nabi Raza had joined SABA, the San Jose-based organization had informally limited the membership of its executive team to mainly Indians (such as Sajjad Mir), Iranians (such as Mohammad Rakhshandehroo) and Pakistanis (such as Akber Kazmi).
Due to his extensive political training in the seminaries of Qom, Iran, Nabi Raza readily realized that such constrained organizational structure impedes the growth and expansion of the Bay Area-based Khomeinist association. Nabi Raza successfully convinced the Urdu- and Farsi-speaking trustees of SABA to accept among their ranks members from every linguistic group included in the SABA congregation. Nabi Raza needed to appoint an Arab-speaking trustee and thus came Hassan Jammal.
At the time, Nabi Raza asked several SABA members of Lebanese origin to join the SABA Board of Trustees. None was more eager than Hassan Jammal. The other Lebanese SabaoistsTemplate:Ref sabaoist expressed reluctance, but Jammal readily accepted the temporary appointment, which lasted for only a few month.
Later on, SABA organized elections for its trustees and Jammal expressed very strong interest in again joining SABA's executive team. As he had earned the trust of Nabi Raza and the other SABA top dogs, Jammal was duly elected as a SABA trustee in January 2003.
Hassan Jammal and Mudassir Ali Shah
Hassan Jammal was directly involved in the bitter conflict between SABA and its former imam, Mudassir Ali Shah. Jammal took a very strong stance against Mudassir and adopted the same position as that of Rafic Labboun. The latter is the highest ranking Hezbollah in Northern California and the commander of Jammal and the other members of the Bay Area Hezbollah crew.
Jammal did not shy from confronting Mudassir, even face to face. During one particular confrontation, he brought his young daughter with him, presumably to try to keep things under control due the presence of the young child. Jammal and many members of SABA, including its top dogs, believe that Mudassir is a crook and a hypocrite. SABA president Hossein Falahati openly expressed a similar position, calling Mudassir a "MONAFEGH" (Arabic/Farsi for hypocrite).
