Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi): The title expanded
From The Islamic Counterterrorism Institute
The full title of Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi) is Hojjat-ol-Islam Syed Hajji Dr. Nabi Raza Mir Abidi (Arabic: حجة الإسلام السيد الحاج الدكتور نبي رضا مير العابدي). Of course, a humbler way to address a Muslim is with the name with which he will be called on Judgement Day (Arabic: يوم القيامة. Transliteration: Ya'wm al-Qiyamah). In Mir's case, it is simply "Nabi Raza" [ibn Nader Ali].
Nabi Raza's impressive set of titles decodes as such:
- Hojjat-ol-Islam is Arabic for the Proof of Islam (Arabic: حجة الإسلام)
- Syed is Arabic for the Master (Arabic: السيّد)
- Hajji is Arabic for the Pilgrim (Arabic: الحاج)
- Dr. is an abbreviation of Doctor, a Latin title, originally used by the Roman Catholic Church to address eminent theologians (Arabic: الدكتور).
Putting the translated titles together yields us the following result: Proof of Islam Master Pilgrim Doctor Nabi Raza Mir Abidi Saheb!
Please note that Nabi Raza is not a medical doctor. He is also not affiliated with the Catholic faith or church in any fashion.
Maulana Nabi Raza Abidi
Nabi Raza goes by yet another appellation: "Maulana Nabi Raza Abidi," which is Arabic for "our lord Nabi Raza Abidi" (Arabic: مولانا نبي رضا عابدي). It seems that this is his most favorite title. Indeed, such a title, "our lord," projects power, authority, and control. It definitely has at least a subconscious effect on the ego of the person addressed as such. Not every one can handle such a lofty designation. There is always the risk of falling into a narcissistic psychological state when one is repeatedly called "our lord so and so" or "our master so and so." Hence, such grand titles are actually a very heavy burden on the Self (the spirit), and require the mind to always be present and ready to suppress the negative internal whims of the taxed person. Imam Ali, PBUH, described this process in the Supplication of the Morning (Arabic: دعاء الصباح) as "the warring against the self," which ends only upon one's death!
Maulana is also spelled as molana and moulana.
Al-Aabd Behjat and worldly titles
The late Ayatollah Shaikh Muhammad Taqi Behjat Foumani, who passed away in 2009, had set a unchallengable authentic Islamic standard for title usage during his lifetime. He published his books under the title and name "Al-Aabd Muhammad Taqi Behjat." Aabd is Arabic for slave (Arabic: عبد) [of God]. Al-Aabd Behjat lived in a dimension free of self-promotion and marketing themes. He figured out that by being true to God, nothing else really matters. He ran away from worldly religious and secular titles (e.g., Ayatollah, Dr., etc.) but they ran after him!
Al-Aabd Behjat was an eminent jurist, Gnostic, and marjaa taqleed (Arabic for imitation reference. Arabic: مرجع التقليد). Nabi Raza attended some of his lectures and had very interesting supernatural stories to share about him.
Potential future titles of Nabi Raza
Nabi Raza still has numerous titles ahead of him to attempt to grab and carry around as extra feathers in his black turban (along with special talismans for protection and the attraction of additional followers).
Soon enough, Nabi Raza might hint to the SABA Board of Trustees that he ready to be addresses as Allamah Abidi (just like the Zaki Baqri (the dude who started shouting "Death to Zionism" at SABA Center during Khomeini's Quds Day celebration in 2008.
Given that Nabi Raza is quite ambitious, he of course fantasizes about becoming Ayatollah Dr. Nabi Raza Abidi and subsequently Grand Ayatollah Dr. Nabi Raza Abidi. No mullah from his all-Khomeinist village, Alipur, was able to accomplish this feast by completing Dars-e-Kharij. Surely Nabi Raza dreams of surpassing every clergyman the village has produced. The G.A. title might not be too high for him to aim at!
You never know what the Almighty God has hidden in the future of Nabi Raza. Only time will show us what awaits this slave of The Lord.
